You Can Now Charge Your EV at Over 200 Pilot and Flying J Gas Stations

A Major Upgrade for Road-Trip Charging

EV drivers in the U.S. no longer need to dread finding a fast charger while traveling. Pilot Company, General Motors (GM), and EVgo have teamed up to install 350-kilowatt (kW) DC fast chargers at Pilot and Flying J gas stations along interstate highways. This network is already active in nearly 40 states and growing quickly.

These new chargers are designed to fix one of the biggest pain points of electric vehicle ownership: inconsistent or inconvenient charging during long trips. By placing chargers at busy travel corridors and adding driver-friendly features, the three companies are transforming the on-the-go charging experience.

What Drivers Will Find at These Stations

Unlike many older charging points tucked away in hard-to-find corners, the new Pilot and Flying J chargers are front-and-center, easy to spot, and built for comfort:

● Prime Locations: All stations are positioned along major interstate corridors, making it easier to plan routes and minimize detours.

● Well-Lit Bays & Free Wi-Fi: Safety and convenience come first. Drivers can relax or work while their car charges.

● On-Site Amenities: Restaurants, convenience stores, and groceries are within steps, turning charging stops into true rest breaks.

● Canopies & Pull-Through Stalls: Shade from heat, protection from rain or snow, and drive-through access for vehicles towing trailers.

These touches make a big difference for EV owners who spend hours on the road.

Charging Technology: Fast and Flexible

Each station features 350-kW EVgo stalls, some of the fastest publicly available chargers in the U.S. Each stall has two charging cords. When one vehicle is plugged in, it gets the full 350 kW of power. When two cars charge at the same time, the power is automatically split.

These chargers also support Plug-and-Charge, which lets compatible EVs start a session automatically—no cards, no apps, no fuss—provided the driver has pre-enrolled with a network. This kind of ease of use is critical for drivers switching from gas to electric.

Rapid Rollout Across the U.S.

The Pilot/GM/EVgo partnership was first announced in 2022, with the first stations going live at the end of 2023. By March 2025, more than 130 charging stations had already opened across 25 states.

Since then, the network has expanded to over 200 charging stations in almost 40 states. Newly added states include Colorado, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. States such as Texas, Missouri, and Florida have also seen significant growth in charger availability.

The companies’ ultimate goal is ambitious: up to 2,000 fast charging stalls at 500 Pilot and Flying J locations nationwide. By the end of this year, they expect to hit 1,000 stalls across 40 states, bringing them nearly halfway to their target.

A Boost for U.S. Road-Trip Culture

“Hitting the open road is a natural emblem of American culture, and traveling by car means drivers can set their own schedule to stop and charge when and where they want,” said Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo. “Our EVgo eXtend network, built in collaboration with Pilot and GM, is delivering reliable charging to communities large and small — ensuring freedom of fueling choice for every driver.”

In other words, the partnership isn’t just about installing hardware; it’s about preserving the freedom and flexibility of road travel in the electric era.

Why This Matters

The U.S. is in the middle of a rapid electric transition. EV sales continue to break records, but charging infrastructure has lagged behind, especially along highways. Unreliable or poorly maintained chargers have been one of the biggest barriers to adoption.

This new network addresses that by:

● Placing high-power chargers at strategic locations.

● Providing a consistent experience with familiar, trusted brands.

● Offering amenities that make charging stops more comfortable.

For fleet operators and commercial drivers, pull-through stalls are particularly important, as many EVs now tow trailers or carry larger loads.

How to Find a Charger

Drivers can view the full network on Pilot Company’s charging map, which is regularly updated as new stations go live. EVgo and GM’s apps also integrate the locations, so planning a trip is as simple as entering your destination and letting the app plot your charging stops.

The Road Ahead

This rollout is part of a much bigger picture. The Biden administration has pledged billions for EV infrastructure under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, which also requires chargers to be accessible to people with disabilities. Networks like Pilot/GM/EVgo’s complement federal and state efforts to close coverage gaps and standardize reliability.

With 350-kW chargers, canopies, free Wi-Fi, and on-site amenities, Pilot and Flying J locations are setting a new benchmark for what highway charging can look like. As the network heads toward its goal of 500 locations and 2,000 fast chargers, long-distance EV travel in the U.S. is about to get a lot easier.

Takeaway

More chargers in more places, plus better amenities, equals less stress for EV drivers. The Pilot, GM, and EVgo collaboration shows how public and private partnerships can speed up infrastructure growth—and, ultimately, accelerate the shift to electric mobility.
